Contour is designed for an enterprise-wide deployment with hundreds of users and is ideal for managing large, complex projects that deal with thousands of moving parts. In addition, the architecture supports integration with your other complimentary tools.

Pure Web-based application

Contour is accessed through a standard web browser such as Mozilla's Firefox or Internet Explorer. Contour does not require any client software or browser add-ins to be installed and all functions including administration and customisation take place within the browser. Contour provides a rich user interface through the use of Ajax which provides users with an intuitive and speedy experience.

Built on open standards

Contour is a pure J2EE application and is deployable on a variety of platforms including Windows, Unix, Linux and Mac. Contour runs within the Apache Tomcat application server.

Contour stores data in a relational database. Many commonly used database formats are supported such as MySQL, Microsoft SQL and HSQL.

Very flexible. Highly customisable

Contour was architected to be easily customisable to fit your specific needs and environment - from the look and feel which uses standard cascading style sheets (CSS) to the terminology and local languages.

Fast installation

Contour is straightforward to install and we offer a number of options - standalone, WAR file or Windows installer for evaluation installs. For production configuration, Contour typically takes less than an hour to setup. In addition, Jama offers free remote installation and configuration. Contour is portable which makes it easy to move between servers, to different types of databases or between hosted and installed instances.

Hardware requirements

Hardware requirements vary depending on team size and usage. Typically we recommend a minimum of 512MB memory allocated to the Contour application and 20GB disk space for a 15 user setup. Using Contour as a document repository may require additional disk space.
